According to politics.ie, a source close to FG TD Phil Hogan has revealed that a high ranking member of the Fianna Fail organisation has approached the FG leadership with an incredible offer - end the talks with labour, and we'll prop you up!
According to the source, Enda Kenny has been briefed on the offer, and is said to be considering his next steps very carefully. Under the erms of the offer, Fine Gael will become a single party government, being propped up its silent partner, Fianna Fail. Micheal Martin hopes to rebuild his party during this governments five years term, while maintaining an international spotlight as the party that made sure the IMF deal went through.
According to sources in Fianna Fail, this could trigger a civil war in the already decimated organisation as propping up a FG government would be a step too far for traditional "republican" members.
